Tragedy! (Maddock's Mayor)

Completely by surprise was the murder of Mayor Evan Randolph. Gunned down in front of his own home, with wife and adopted son watching on, the gunman escaped town before the last echo of the shot had dissipated.

Speculations are very high as to what the Gunsmith turned Mayor might have done to deserve such an execution, always considered to be a bit private and quiet the only thing that is very prevalent on everyone's minds is how dangerous is seems to be to be a Mayor in Maddock. This marks the third one to die in the last ten years and though not spoken above the whisper, some can't help but note that it is the second time the young Madeline Quintan finds herself to be a widow.

The funeral was well attended, though in the absence of Reverend Greg, the stand in Reverend known by the name O'Mally was noticeably impaired as he gave the eulogy, sending the Mayor off with a few nips from his flask.

Immediately follow the funeral, before the crowd could disperse, town figureheads Judge Framingham and Territorial Representative Garrett broached the topic of creating a Town Council in lieu of electing a new Mayor. The idea was met with some amount of interest but it was left that until the town charter could be amended, a Mayor would still be required. Nominations? Well there was very little surprise at some of the nominations that were given that night: Mr. Rick Porter, Mr. Damien D'aray, Marshal William Tucker and Christopher Quintan.

Meanwhile as the town prepares for the new unexpected election delays are abound, winter has set in and many are not interested in traveling into town to cast their votes, especially until the Town's Charter is located. Located? Yes, it seems that the original was burned in the fire and Michael Garrett took off in search of a copy, which might have been kept in Helene.

December is now setting in and Maddock still has no Mayor, but this really doesn't seem to have affected the town yet. Sheriff Jack Barron's been quite busy in maintaining the peace, enforcing the ordinances and keeping the town's streets clear. Construction has even begun on a new town hall that is rumored to be the new courthouse. Some aren't even certain who's overseeing that little venture but assume it's the Water Engineer Zamir and the Mayor's assistant.
