Approaching Autumn in Maddock |
||
|
Late August brings even more construction in Maddock, a two-story wood building where the Grey Horse Saloon used to be. Course everyone knows that land belonged to Wilona Jenkins, but when rumors begin to circulate they cause everyone to wonder. A Gentleman's Club, members only and reportedly to be run by Chance Jameson, but what of Wilona? While most eyes and ears are turned on the recent disappearance of Theo Grey, a few ladies of the Auxiliary Circle didn't fail to notice that in the wake of the recent exodus from Doctor Kei's expansive ranch there are new arrivals to his home. The speculation is high, given that Doctor Kei has been noted as introducing one as his daughter and another as his cousin. Daughter? This has the ladies abound with chatter. /Then where's his wife?/ /He certainly doesn't look old enough to have a daughter./ /Who is this cousin?/ While the ladies were occupied, so was Sheriff Barron. After organizing a search party, the Sheriff and a small group headed west into the mountains and located Theo Grey. Having escaped his captors over week before, the young lad was tired and weak from exposure. It would only be a short few days later when Theo would find himself in another scuffle, notably involved in a shooting between the Sheriff and Dixon Mason. Is this man one of those responsible for Theo's disappearance? Speculation points yes, especially when the Sheriff cuffed the wounded Mason and locked him in Jail. Another caught in the cross fire was the Tanner, Jordan Wilson. Around all the excitement, progress on Maddock's restoration continues as Ylsa Mendez completes the re-building of her restaurant and opens back up to serving the town her delicious cooking. Quite tired of the food found only in the Boarding House, everyone of any status has been known to make their way to the new restaurant in hopes of tickling their palette. Meanwhile, the bath house that was to be built by Ann Garbeau finally began construction, with a flurry of groundbreaking in order to beat the coming winter. While Ann has been a notable private woman, there is one rumor that has been cast about in jest that aside from the issues with water that seem prevalent throughout the town, money was also an issue and just where did the mysterious Garbeau suddenly get the funds to begin construction? Christopher Quintan's General Store also seems to be prospering, as a new selection of supplies becomes available without needing to head all the way into Great Falls. Eyebrows did raise however, when he chose to hire that young, French accented woman, Angelique Dumont to run the front counter, especially on the heels of rumors that she was involved in an altercation with one of Miss Gem's girls resulting in an unexpected tumble into the water barrel. New arrivals on the grid during this time period included: Cummings, Samuel, Freia, Greenbay, Derrick and Margaret.
