Two Weeks After The Fire |

A town standing in ashes, even a blanket of fresh snow cannot hide the devastation. But it is time to think about moving on. A town in grieving begins to consider what to do next in order to rebuild what was once a glorious place. Word of the fire has reached far places at this point, attracting many from out of town who hold an interest here. Soon, they will be arriving in Great Falls. People like Territory Representative Michael Garrett and the long awaited Banker, Mr. Clysdon. After all, the bank has been closed since the unfortunate death of the previous President and the townsfolk's are beginning to get angry, denied a right to their money. Winter is a harsh time to rebuild, it will not be easy to obtain supplies. A town meeting is called, to be held two weeks hence, about the time the banker is due to arrive. In the meantime, the community tents make a warm, if crowded place for the displaced to sleep. And there is plenty to eat. For now. Return to the Archive |
