Two Months after the Fire (Pt. III

(continued from previous posting)

The Ladies Axillary Club has continued to be very active in helping those misfortunes misplaced by the fire. They have even arranged a Keno game to be held at the Church. Some would think it might be scandalous for such a morale group to be hosting a gambling event, but they have managed to pull it off with the air that it is for a 'good cause'. The LAC has had plenty to discuss amongst themselves given the recent notice of Widow Rhodes in town often. Though the woman has lived a good part of two years in the town, she was rarely seen until the recent death of her husband. While the LAC approves that the woman has donned the traditional black of her role, they cannot help but notice that she has been visited quite often by several men in the community, including Banker Clysdon, Ranch Hand Herod Mercer and even Christopher Quintan. While they haven't been able to ascertain that anything untoward is going on, they will be keeping a sharp eye on the Widow.

The Indian Hunter, Hawk has been seen around town again. Some are rather relieved to see that he isn't actually staying in town this time, since the Boarding House refused to find a spot for him.

Lastly, there is a growing rumor, probably originating from the bank, that the Quintan account assets has been frozen. Many are wondering just what old Karl was up to before his death, and think that with the arrival of a rather well-to-do lawyer by the name of Pearce that the Quintan estate will finally be settled.
