Karl Quintan's Murder |
||
|
(Please also read 14/9) After twenty years of being on of the more prominent figures around the town that is now Maddock, Karl Quintan died in October of 1876. Notorious for his brutal tendencies, Mr. Quintan was suspected (but never proven) to be involved in the murder of Mayor Dellington and the framing of that murder on the corrupt Sheriff Conner. Karl Quintan ruled with an iron first and the power that wealth and no conscious might bring. His illness began in the late summer of '76 and his stubbornness turned out to be his own undoing since what some thought might just be a short term illness turned into a slow acting, quite painful death by poison. Suspects? Certainly there were many, but none that ever passed the lips of local law at the time. After all, Karl's death was some what of a blessing to most. His son however, has not let the matter die. In a move rather surprising to those who know of it, he had Karl Quintan exhumed from his family plot grave and brought him to Great Falls to be examined by Doctor Zachary Kei Zungji. Who might know what new information this second examination might have revealed? Of course the local lawmen in town have there hands quite full at the moment, and its no secret that if Marshal Tucker hadn't been out of the area at the time of Karl's death, he'd likely be a suspect like many other town folks.
