"Well, way I heard it, Katy's been spending an awful lot of time over at Ellis' place this past summer helpin' out. Old Man Pokryshkin's probably been sending her over there every excuse he can think of. You know he'd like to get some of those girls married off, 'specially since he doesn't seem to be able to have a son of his own to leave his farm to." The Pokryshkin's were local celebrities for having nine children, all of them girls. "Doesn't hurt that they're neighbors as well. Bet it doesn't take long for them to knock down some fences and join their properties up."
