A cavalry patrol entered Maddock late one evening and took an injured man to Miss Caroline's boarding house. Apparently the poor man is the sole survivor of an Indian attack and was tortured by the heathens before the cavalry rescued him. The man is currently recovering at the boarding house. No one knows who he is and as his tongue has been cut out he hasn't been able to tell anyone anything about himself. Millicent Cooper of the Ladies Auxillary suggested calling him Job, after the man who suffers many trials and tribulations in the Bible, and the name has stuck. At present the man has nothing, even his clothing was in tatters, so the Ladies Auxillary is taking donations to help the poor soul out.
