The old woman's tone is disapproving, and her voice goes up a notch as she continues, "And then he introduced her as his apprentice, of all things... said he's teaching her to be a /doctor/. Have you ever heard anything so ridiculous?"
The woman's LAC compatriot shakes her head and scoffs, "A lady doctor, indeed! Look at what fool notions that fellow is putting into people's heads. As if having a Chinaman who thinks he's a doctor wasn't bad enough..."
