Sixty Dollars!!

Gertrude is still a buzz the Fourth of July picnic basket auction, so much so that even having Agatha take over the position of auctioneer doesn't bother her in the least. After all, she now has quite a bit of juicy gossip as she sits down for coffee with Mildred Jones. "You are going to be sorry you missed the event when I tell you that Mr. Clysdon purchased Miss Montgomery's basket for sixty dollars!"

Mildred looks downright skeptical, "That's an outrageous sum, Gertrude! I didn't even know the writer could cook."

Gertrude just grins and states, "Oh, I don't think it was for the food! He didn't even stay and /eat/ it, instead setting the basket down in front of that Twin Hills Foreman who gave him such a run for his money."

Mildred gasps, "He purchased her basket then didn't dine with her? Oh, what a rude man. That poor girl."
