Didja hear the latest about Widow Rhodes? Naw, I know she didn't come to church Sunday. Didja hear what happened -before- that? Mmmmmhmmmm. Seems there was some kinda fuss in the Square 'twixt her and those two men that work out at her farm. Or use ta work out there. I hear tell that the dust up was cuz they just up and quit with no notice! Know what that means, doncha? That widow woman is out east of town allllllllllll by herself now. Just her and that Injun that lives out thataway. Reckon she didn't come to church cuz she was still all tore up about those hands quittin' like that.
Hey! Reckon they're makin' book over at the saloon on how long it'll be 'fore the widow ends up dead or hurt out there by herself? Wonder what kinda people'd just up and quit on a widow like that during the midst of round-up season? Makes ya wonder, don't it? Ain't gonna be many left to hire what with all the extra men the ranches've took on. Just ain't right. Them fellas oughta be ashamed!
