As the news about Marcel's shooting gets out, the trading post people have a few bits of information to add: The shooting apparently happened right in front of the trading post, and they were accordingly the first on the scene. What they found was the direly-wounded man -- at least two shots taken -- and his nephew's hat and gun. Someone checked the gun and two bullets were missing. As well, the knife that the youth had just won on a bet from one of the customers inside the trading post was now puncturing the outside of that building, set in about an inch into the wood. Sure, the nephew might have been nabbed, but then there's another possible explanation too. --After all, a kidnapping is for money, and who'd pay for that smart-mouthed actor-wannabe, other than the man who was left for dead?
Perhaps another whisper, quieter, might regard the fact that Thierry Marcel sent a wire off, requesting a sum of money, and the two have been bumming around town taking odd jobs until this sum comes in. Maybe it came in.
