The way he tells it, the guy was a 'real sawbones, not like that Chinee feller with his foreign potions and all them needles'. He was pretty pleased with his treatment, too: seems to think he got his money's worth, and he displays the big white pills he got from that doc proudly, to anyone who asks.

Of course, he's pretty free with information about this 'new sawbones': the guy's name is Greely. Doc Greely, and from what the miner says, he's probably just passing through. Some of the miners are wondering if they can change this guy's mind by providing him with enough business to keep his feet nailed firmly down here in Maddock....
